Behind the Scenes

Have you read “On a Hot August Afternoon” yet? The above is a picture I snapped when researching the book. I was in Northern California, where not only did I grow up, but so did my characters. I hadn’t been to this particular area for years and although some of the surrounding homes had been modified, not to mention multiplied, it still had that same feel of being in the country as well as a suburban neighborhood.

This next picture is of the kind of house Stacey, Stephanie and Susanna all grew up in, followed by the neighborhood where Pete grew up. Neither of these houses are exactly right, and yet they provided the feel of what I was going for.

Lastly, this is a picture of Bo’s Barbeque, where Stacey held Stephanie’s bridal shower and where she and her sisters often ate when growing up. So, now that you have some of the behind the scenes information, go read this book! I promise you will enjoy it.  You can purchase it through this link!

  1. Wow this is amazing I don’t remember you going into deep descriptions of everything but this is EXACTLY how I pictured it. The front of the house where the cars are pulled up is just plain FREAKY! Wow.

cool to see … my mental images were similar houses, but somehow lacking all the trees. i wonder why? maybe heat=no trees in my mind :).

This is wonderful. We get a chance to get a sense of the setting, to picture the places for the story. Like laying down part of the reading foundation.

  4. I haven’t read it yet honey * hangs head in shame* but it is right at the top of my to be read list, I promise 🙂
