Facebook has informed me that I have ten friends with birthdays this week. Ten! Thank goodness I don’t really know most of them, certainly not in such a way that we would share our birthdays together. One of the birthdays however, is Ruthie, and she is not just my daughter’s best friend, but one of my favorite people on this planet. I just checked my archives to see what I wrote about her last year and it would appear that I wrote nothing. I find this hard to believe. In fact I recall a post about both her and my niece Kayla, but if I did write something, it’s not showing up now.
Ruthie is hilarious, mostly intentionally, but also at times blissfully unintentionally. She almost always has a smile on her face, and could not be any more delightful. I have known her for ten or eleven of the fourteen years she has been here, and I could probably count on one hand the times I have seen her get truly angry. For the most part she is just an incredibly loveable, talented, good-natured beam of light. She truly can brighten the darkest days. My birthday wish for her is that she can live a life that is fun, free and fearless! As far as I can tell, she has a great head start. I look forward to continuing to watch her grow and evolve. She is one of a kind.

That cake looks really, really good.

Hmmm, this is going to take some thought.
Happy Birthday Ruthie! Sounds like a keeper, the best kind
