Fantasy Real Estate

Do you have a favorite style of house? Does it match your personality? I remember taking a walk with one of my sisters through a nice neighborhood years ago, and one of the houses we passed by had a long, steep driveway leading up to the house. I’m pretty sure it was gated and rather grand. When this sister of all sisters said that was the kind of place she would like, I was shocked. I’d have imagined her in a far simpler setting. I thought she’d have a bunch of animals and live on a place where the land was more important than the house itself.

I personally love all kinds of houses. On some days I just need a small beach cottage, and on others a nice Craftsman on a tree-lined street. On still other days I go for something more elaborate. The above house is my current favorite and yet the other day when I was fantasizing about selling a million copies of “On a Hot August Afternoon” or “Searching for My Wand”, I asked myself, would I build it? No, I don’t think so. I am intrigued by the idea of building your own house and being able to be sure it has everything you want, but would it? Somehow, I see myself as missing something central. If I had all the money in the world, I don’t know what kind of house I would get, do you?

If I could have any house at all money no object it would be a huge gothic mansion complete with secret tunnels and towers

  2. I’ve always wanted a rustic log cabin. :-)

I’m not sure I what kind of house I would get if I had all the money in the world. But, for sure it would have a swimming pool in the back and it would be a very sensuous pool. I like your blog!!
