My FIRST BLOG

The purpose of this site is to find a larger audience for the ridiculous amount of writing I do. How ridiculous, you ask? In just one year I wrote four novels, nearly completed a sequel to the second novel and collaborated with my friend Laura Hall (best known for her piano skills on Whose Line Is It Anyway?) on a musical “Room to Grow” that is, quite frankly, brilliant.  I have since written a screenplay, a sitcom pilot and a few more novels. I am nothing if not prolific. All the while, I have been raising my two daughters and Laura and I continue work towards mounting a professional production of the aforementioned musical.I also like to draw and/or paint.

My immediate future needs to be about marketing, while continuing to do what I love, and what better way to go about it than to write? The fact that pen and paper is my favorite medium may serve as a hindrance to my computer-impaired brain, but I am determined to get past that, and lets face it, if this has been posted then I am well on my way.

All of my novels, Searching for My Wand, On a Hot August AfternoonThe Salacious Marny Ottwiler and Crashing Into Us, are all available for purchase on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Bridget-Straub/e/B006KEG0KE/ref=ntt_dp_epwbk_0 Go check them out!

  5. Allie says:

Wow! You’re extremely productive, and with your little ones too. I’m lucky to get one manuscript done in a year – too many distractions. Listening to you though, I have no more excuses.

  6. debutnovelist says:

Wow – how much writing is that!
Will take a look at your excerpts when I can.
thanks for visiting me. ATB for the campaign.

  7. J.A. Yang says:

A first blog! Welcome and hello fromt the contemp campaign group!

  8. Wow! I, too, am impressed with four novels in a year.

You might want to be careful about posting more than a chapter or two of each book on your blog (if that’s your intention) as that could infringe on selling e-rights to a traditional publisher in the future (if that’s your goal).

  9. Neil Vogler says:

Hi Bridget. Thanks for coming by my blog — it’s great to get a bit more involved in the writing community, as I am a notorious isolationist when it comes to my own blogging. You have a nice blog here, and it’s excellent that you are so prolific. I’ll be back!

  10. Wonderful to meet you Bridget. Sounds like you enjoy what you do, which is wonderful and you’re multi-talented too, which makes things even more interesting. I look forward to visiting you during the campaign.

  11. Wow Bridget – you’ve done a lot this year! That’s awesome. Thanks for stopping by my blog. It’s nice to meet you and I look forward to reading more :)

  12. Wow. I suddenly feel extremely unproductive! Can you be my life coach? lol Nice to meet you fellow campaigner. I can’t wait to soak up all your enthusiasim!

  13. Love your ambition! Plus, music! Welcome to the campaign! I look forward to speaking more with you!

  14. Tirzah says:

And to think I felt good because I took out the trash two days in a row. :)

I have writing ADD. I’ll write poetry furiously for months, then write on my novel, then do art for months, then read—then back to poetry. I don’t fight the flow anymore.

But I know others like you…I can lead you to your people–Prolific writers.
    :)

Oh and HI FROM A FELLOW CAMPAIGNER.

    Tirz

  15. I can’t believe you did that much in a year. I didn’t do that much in five. I’m in awe. Now you need to get a follower widget and an RSS feed widget on your sidebar because I read blogs in googIe reader, except for special occasions like campaigning. I stopped to say hi because you’re on of the few who actually found and entered my contest. But more should follow. That’s what this campaign is for, right? Let me know if you make a facebook page or twitter account to follow.

  16. Brenda Sills says:

I LOVE writing with pen and paper! That’s how I do all my writing and then I type it up on the computer later in the day. I’m a fellow campaigner in the Women’s Fiction group. It’s great to meet you!

  17. Hi, I’m in awe. Congratulations on getting four novels written. No easy feat.
I’m looking forward to following you on your blog. I’m also a fellow #writecampaigner

Find me here http://www.firstdraftcafe or on twitter here @mariaAsmith

Looking forward to reading your writing.

  18. How do you find the time? I would love to be able to get a book done PLUS draw and paint. I always feel I have to choose: writing, painting, or feeding and caring for the offspring. The latter wins most of the time.

  19. I’m so impressed with how much you have created in a short time! Wow.

I’m a fellow Campaigner and wanted to drop by and say hello. I look forward to reading your work and getting to know you better. Good luck!

  20. Congrats on all your completed MS’s an good luck with their success. :O)

  21. Jan Morrison says:

  28. And here I was thinking that my goal to have my first manuscript ready for pitching by next April was maybe too aggressive! I hang my head in shame. :)

  32. Arlee Bird says:

  35. clarbojahn says:

I want to add to the comment above about publishing on your blog and then getting a publisher. They don’t want you to be published before and on your blog counts. They won’t take you if you’ve posted your work on your blog. Haven’t really searched through your blog yet but thought I’d give you an fyi.
    Take care, Clar

  45. Hi Bridget! Yes, you are amazingly productive and I feel quite slothful now. Wish I had seen your blog sooner to know you were searching for my book, Wedlocked. I could have let you know that a title search is the easiest way on Amazon. I got your note that you finally got it and am glad to hear it. Thanks and I hope you enjoy it! Please let me know your thoughts. All the best, Bonnie
